This second font is now located inside the church, beneath the tower. When Mackeprang (1941) visited the church there was only one font, of which this was the base; during the renovation of the church in 1954 it was discovered that the block of granite serving as base had originally been carved to be the basin, but a crack developed in it during the hollowing out of the inner basin well and the work on it was stopped; since the exterior of the font had been finished the masons and/or the churchwardens must have decided to put the block to some use by turning it upside down and using it as base of the replacement basin. After 1954 the faulty stone was removed, and a modern granite base supplied to the functioning basin [cf. FontNotes entry for Skarup No. 1]; the faulty basin was then mounted on its own base and was placed inside the church, beneath the tower [NB: the unfinished inside well can be seen today]. The faulty basin is externally somewhat similar to the other one, decorated with four human faces and a rope moulding, with a blind set of round arches below; the volume below the underbowl is however different. Described in the Parish web site: "Døbefonten. [source: Parish web site [www.skaarupkirke.dk/index.php?id=890]]
