Magnificent baptismal font and matching cover made of bronze by master Magnus Karsten in 1573; the cover has scenes that include: the Last Supper; Crucifixion of Christ; Burial of Christ; Resurrection; Last Judgment; above, below the Holy Ghost symbol finial, are a crowned God the Father, mythical animals, putti, etc. Inscriptions identify the donors of the font, the master metallurgist and the date of manufacture [on the centre ring of the stem]; others identify the specific scenes that decorate the basin sides: Noah's ark of the Covenant (1. Moses, 7); Baptism of Christ by John the Baptist (Mark 1, 9-11); the crossing of the Red Sea by the fleeing Israelites (2. Moses, 14); the parting of the waters of the Jordan (Joshua 3, 14-17); the healing of the Syrian leper Naaman (2. Kings, 5); "suffer the little children"... (Mark 10, 13-16). On the round stem are small figures representing the twelve Apostles. The wider circular lower base rests on several [six?] seated children shown at play: with balls in their hands, with dogs, etc. Inscriptions noted in the DIO [https://www.inschriften.net/goslar/inschriften/nr/di045-0097.html?tx_hisodat_sources%5BitemsPerPage%5D=10&tx_hisodat_sources%5BorderBy%5D=10&tx_hisodat_sources%5BascDesc%5D=10&tx_hisodat_sources%5BcurrentItem%5D=97&tx_hisodat_sources%5Baction%5D=show&tx_hisodat_sources%5Bcontroller%5D=Sources&cHash=8b7b1b23ff12da55e3e51da80065bcae] [accessed 13 July 2023]
