Listed and illustrated in the Palissy database [ref. no.: PM19000286] with date in the 12th century. Noted as Romanesque in Eglises de Corrèze [http://eglises.de.correze.online.fr/] [accessed 28 February 2017]: "La cuve baptismale est romane". The tapering dodecagonal tub-shaped basin is decorated on the sides at two levels: the upper half has an arcade of twenty-four round arches resting on single columns with simple moulded capitals and bases; the lower half has a dozen square panels with nine checquers in each; there is siginificant damage to the upper rim, especially at opposite ends where the anchoring for the cover would have been; the upper surface of the rim still shows a triple moulding all around, though much damaged now; the inner well of the basin is not lined. A drain hole has been made at some point in one of the lower panels of the font, one that now faces south [NB: we have no documentary information on the 'life' of this font, but it would suggest that it was at one point used as a farm or garden trough, hence the lateral drain-hole; it presumably has -or had- a centre one in the bottom of tha basin originally. The wooden monument that stands aginst the north wall, near the old font, incorporates a modern font that may have been used to replace the old one in the past]. The old monolithic font is now set on a modern square plinth by the north wall of the nave, to the west of the newer wooden monument, just beneath the western gallery.
