Font Notes:
There is an entry for Wytham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP4709/wytham/] [accessed 2 June 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Berkshire, vol. 4, 1924) notes: "The church of Wytham was in existence in the early 12th century. [...] The church [...] was entirely rebuilt in 1811, but incorporates some old material." Thre is no mention of a font in the VCH entry. The Parish web site [http://www.wytham-church.org.uk/all-saints-church-wytham-building.htm] [accessed 22 November 2011] notes: "During alterations to his Wytham estate, Montagu Bertie, 5th Earl of Abingdon, rebuilt the church in 1811-12. The church register records that the previous church was ‘so ruinous as to be dangerous .......... to assemble for divine worship'. The architect was Thomas Cundy, (1765-1825) [...] The church has a Caen stone font in gothic style, and was fitted out with pews, pulpit, and a west gallery. The font, pulpit and gallery remain" [i.e., from the 1811 re-building; the whereabouts of the original font from the medieval church are unkown]
