There is a multiple-place [2 places] entry for Osbaldwick [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SE6351/osbaldwick/] [accessed 12 December 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (York North Riding, vol. 2, 1923) notes: "The church of St. Thomas [...] is substantially of 12th-century date [...] restored in 1877–8 [...] The ancient font, now in the chancel, is broken, and has a circular bowl of 12th century date." David Rogers [http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1356097] informs that the old font from Osbaldwick was discarded from the interior of St. Thomas' in the 19th century, and stood for a time in its churchyard; it was moved to nearby Murton, the church of Murton St. James', in May 1950. Roger's (ibid.) photograph of the interior of the church shows a crude round basin with tapering sides, raised on a circular pedestal base. There is a second font of stone outside the south entrance to the church, a polygonal font that appears to be Victorian, perhaps the original font of this church] [NB: Murton St. James' was chapel-of-ease of Osbaldwick St. Thomas']. The entry for Osbaldick St Thomas; church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE6350251867] notes: "Church. C12 in origin with extensive restoration of 1877 by J Oldrid Scott and alterations and additions of 1967"; no font mentioned in it.
