The British Listed Building database [http://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-310208-church-of-st-john-the-baptist-sandown] reports: "Church. c1150 nave and chancel built as a private chapel by the de Aula family of Yaverland Manor [...] C12 or C13 octagonal stone font." [NB: White (1878) does not mention St. John's Church in Sandown, but only Christ Church, built in 1846-1847, with a font "by an anonymous donor in 1875"].
