Wilson's Gazetteer of 1870-1872 notes: "The old church was dedicated to St. Tysilio, and stood on Ben-Glâs, which is alternately a peninsula and an island; and the new church is a recent edifice, larger but meaner than the old one, and stands on the mainland." [NB: a church is reported to have existed here since the 7th century, but we have no information on the medieval font]
