Font Notes:
Noted in a letter to the editor of 'Archaeologia Cambrensis' (issue no. XXIX, 4th series, January 1877: 157) from "E.O.": On the road side between Corwen and Cerrig y Drudion, at a place called Pontyglyn, is to be seen a font of a plain octagonal form, built into the wall. It is used at present as a receptacle to supply the thirsty with water when climbing up to pleasant Cerrig from Corwen." The CPAT Eastern Conwy Churches Survey Project [www.cpat.demon.co.uk] entry for Cerrgydrudion notes the replacement of the furnishings of that church in the 19th century and adds: "An earlier octagonal font had been removed and was used as water trough beside the A5 at Pont y Glyn (?a few miles to the east)." [NB: the Church of St. Paul, in Pontyclun, dates from the late 19th century].
