Church Notes: -- church listed in Mérimée [ref.: PA00090071]: "Edifice du début du 17e siècle, comprenant une nef flanquée de bas-côtés, et une abside polygonale dont chaque face est couronnée d'un grand pignon. Le transept est éclairé par deux grandes baies à meneaux. Sur la façade occidentale s'élève le clocher à galerie, terminé par une flèche en pierre élancée. L'édifice s'élève au centre d'un enclos regroupant la sacristie, l'ossuaire et le calvaire."

Described and illustrated in APEVE (Association pour la Promotion des Enclos Paroissiaux de la Vallée de l’Élorn) [https://www.apeve.bzh/spip.php?article226] [accessed 9 June 2024] as a baptismal font consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin dated 1612 by an inscription, raised on a round moulded pedestal base; the tall baldaquin that houses the font rests on six columns and includes a sculptural group with the six Virtues, and St. Michael slaying the dragon above them ["Les fonts baptismaux. La cuve en kersantite porte l’inscription ANNO DOMINI 1612 S.MELAR. La date correspond au moment où Locmélar fut érigé en trève de Sizun. Le baldaquin hexagonal doré et polychrome est soutenu par six colonnes en faux marbre à chapiteaux corinthiens. Le ciel représente le baptême de Jésus par saint Jean Baptiste dans le Jourdain, traité en bas-relief polychrome. Saint Michel terrassant le dragon domine le dôme entouré par les statues de six Vertus."
