Font Notes:
The RCAHMW (Pembroke, 1925) notes: "The present structure was practically rebuilt about the mid-19th century upon the old foundations [...] The font is modern, and nothing could be learnt of an earlier one." The Derelict Miscellany entry for this church [http://derelictmisc.org.uk/penbedw.html] [accessed 11 October 2011] notes: "The earliest record of a rectory here is from 1325 [...] The first recorded rector is John ap Henry in 1387 [...] The church was enlarged and 'restored' following a grant of 1859 by architect John C. Davies. [...] The last marriage is believed to have been conducted here in 1970 and the church fell out of use shortly afterwards. [...] Inside the church, all furniture has been removed except for the font and two pews at the back of the church [...] the tiled floor is strewn with manure and the windows are all broken." [NB: the entry in The Derelict Miscellany is for September 2011, and the church is reported abandoned since ca. 1970 in it]. [NB: the font illustrated in this source, of the common octagonal mounted design, is plain and probably 19th-century; we have no information on the font of the original church of ca. 1325].
