Noted in a letter to the editor of 'Archaeologia Cambrensis' (issue no. XXIX, 4th series, January 1877: 156-157) from "E.O.": "underneath the belfry or steeple is the old font that formerly stood in the parish church before its late restoration. Externally it is scored with incisions, which prove it to have been used for sharpening instruments, such as knives. The bowl is large and is leaded. Although unused it still carefully kept, and its place has been supplied by a more elaborate font of very modern make." The inventory of the RCAHM (Montgomery, 1911) reports a font of the 15th century in its 10 September 1909 visit to this church. The CPAT Montgomeryshire Churches Survey Project [www.cpat.demon.co.uk] notes: "St Llonio's [...] western tower topped by a pyramidal slate roof over a timber belfry is believed to date from the 13thC. Much of the body of the church was rebuilt at the time of the 19thC restoration, though the north wall of the chancel is original. The church contains a [...] a damaged Perpendicular font". The CPAT... (ibid.) mentions two fonts in this church; the second one is the Victorian one introduced in the 19th-century restoration. The RCAHM (ibid.) notes a modern font of 1822 in the nearby chapel-of-ease Capel Banhadlog.
