Carrasco Terriza et al. (2006) report a former marble baptismal font of the Visigothic period [5th to 8th century] that was re-used during the Almohad dominance of Al-Andalus [1170-1212 approx.] as a decorative fountain in the courtyard of the former mosque. The basin of the [now] decorative fountain is hemispherical and plain but for a roll moulding at the upper rim; nothing on it suggests a Visigothic pedigree, and it looks like thousands of other such basins of medieval baptismal fonts; it is now mounted on a quadrangular pedestal base presumably quite late. [cf. Index entry for Niebla No.3 for the baptismal font in use in this church]
