Carrasco Terriza et al. (2006) refers to the second visit by Juan de Palafox y Cardona, archbishop of Seville, to this church in 1692, at which time he ordered the old glazed ceramic Mudejar font replaced. The replacement font, dated 1696, was later split: the stem of the 17th-century font serves now as base for the modern basin in use; the old basin was built into the wall by the entranceway and is now used as holy-water stoup.
