Church Notes: excavations suggest a place of cult since the 2ndC, a necropolis of the late-Antiquity (5thC?) and a Christian temple until the 12thC, when it was abandoned in favour of the village nucleus around the present parish church, itself 12thC; it was restored in 1990 -- said to have been dedicated to saints Tirso and Bernabé

[www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_VALDEZATE.pdf] [accessed 31 December 2020] notes: "Se trata de una sencilla construcciónrománica levantada sobre un lugar de culto del siglo IV,importando sobre todo la necrópolis tardoantigua sobre laque se construyó, el lugar de culto y los silos de granosexistentes junto a una interesante piscina bautismal."
