Noted and illustrated in Valle Barreda (2009) with date in the late 12th or early 13th century. Baptismal font probably from the earlier church in this locality, consisting of a hemispherical basin raised on a short round base; both parts appear plain now, except for a much damaged moulding on the upper rim of the basin, but closer inspection shows that the font has lost most of its deeply-carved ribbed pattern it originally had, as the pattern is evidenced on the bottom area of the underbowl; a pair of large horizontal metal staples hold the back of the basin together now; the basin appears to have been drastically re-tooled to hide some of the damage; one metal staple remains in the upper rim, but the rim itslef has been brutally re-done; it is raised on a squat circular base also badly damaged but still showing a round moulding atop. The inner well of the basin has also been re-worked down to a smooth finish it could have never had originally. It is very difficult to imagine what its form was exactly before the 'restoration' it underwent; there are indications that, though probaly medieval, it might not have been as early as Valle Barreda [cf. supra] dates it. No cover present.
