Church Notes: late-14thC [started ca. 1380?] brick church replaced an earlier Romanesque church on the site; modified several times in the 15thC; re-built ca. 1850 by C.G. Brunius; renovated 1904-1910; further renovations and restorations in the 20thC
Tynell (1913-1921) reports a fragment of a baptismal font made of reddish limestone; it is the lower part of a dodecagonal basin, the twelve panels(?) containing standing figures, probably the Twelve Apostles, three of whom, Peter, Paul and Andrew, can be identified by their symbols; the bottom of the underbowl has a blind arcade of rather flat round arches; Tynell attributes the font to the 'Falsterbogruppen' [cf. infra]. Noted in Reutersvärd (1967). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910527F1] as the fragment of a baptismal font made of limestone in the 15th century, originally from Malmö Skt Petri kyrka, later located in Malmö museum with inventory number 3231; the SHM entry mentions that Tynell's attribution to the 'Falsterbogruppen', later known as the 'Fröjelgruppen', is rather unrealistic, and describes it instead as being of unidentified authorship [="oidentifierad - saknar paralleller"]. The entry for the museum holding in Eurpeana, Malmö Museers verksamhetsarkiv/katalogkort MM/fol [foto] [https://classic.europeana.eu/portal/en/record/91658/MM_objekt_1777096.html?utm_source=new-website&utm_medium=button] [accessed 11 July 2021] notes: "Dopfunt af kalksten, å fyrkantig fot af dito, skålen tolfkantig med figurer i låg relief: (troligen de tolf apostlarna: Petrus med nyckeln, Andreas med andreaskorset, 1 med uppåtriktadt svärd, 1 med nedåtriktadt dito, 1 med kalk, öfriga otydliga); starkt skadad." The fragment is roughly the lower half of the old dodecagonal basin, which still shows traces of the figural programme on it.
