Noted and illustrated in Montelius & Brusewitz (1878). Noted in Hallbäck (1961) as a baptismal font made of soapstone in the 12th century, of a group of fonts made by the masters Sven and Torbjörn; it is badly damaged, the bottom of the basin missing; donated in 1872 to the Göteborgs stadsmuseum. Described and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld' [ref.: 951014F6] as a baptismal font made of soapstone and dated to the mid-12th century, of the 'Sven-Torbjörngruppen' type [NB: the SHM photographs probably date from ca. 1995]. On-site notes at the Göteborgs stadsmuseum [storage unit]: the font is no longer in the museum; it appears to have been returned to the church in 1961, where it was mounted an an additional modern lower base, as photographed in August 2005]. The font consists now of a bucket-shaped basin decorated with a weave of three-strand interlace on the sides, raised on a quadrangular lower base of two volumes, the lower of which is modern. The entry in Medeltidens bildvärld notes that Hallbäck [cf. supra] had reported a central drain hole in the centre of the basin well, but it was later plugged with cement; the Göteborgs stadsmuseum's records indicate the existence of a drain hole 4 cm wide in the basin well. The font is in a good state of repair in general, but there is some minor damage to the upper rim of the basin [not known whether related to cover hardware].
