Font Notes:
Illustrated in Gustaf Brusewitz. Noted and illustrated in Hallbäck (1966). Described and illustrated in the archive of the Göteborgs stadsmuseum as a stone baptismal font probably of the first half of the 12th century bearing a Runic inscription that translates: 'Andreas gaerthe / Andreas gjorde" [i.e., Andreas made [it]]. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920609F3] as an Andreas' baptismal font made of sandstone, dated to ca. 1200, and with a Runic inscription that transcribes: "Andreas gjorde". On-site notes [storage unit at the Göteborgs stadsmuseum]: not found in the storage unit; it had been donated to the museum in 1876 but was returned to the church in 1920. The sides of the basin are decorated with a pattern of linked interlaced tw-strand circles; on the chamfered underbowl is a scalloped foliage pattern and a thick roll moulding; the circular lower base is moulded and has a Runic inscription on the side identifying the carver of the font as Andreas. The inner well of the basin has a drain hole and is unlined [NB: 1954 photographs from the museum archive of the dismantled font show the round hole of the drain in both the basin and the base].
