Gastrell (1845- ) informs that Wincle has a chapel "erected in ye time of Charl. I" [1625-1649], with "no settled maintenance for a Minister", but " very handsome building"; Gastrell (ibid.) further reports that there is "No Font, but [the] Curate has baptized here". The National Monuments Record (English Heritage) entry for Wincle St. Michael's [http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/details/default.aspx?pid=1&id=58160] [accessed 30 September 2010] reports a baptismal font of 1861 in this church.; it also reports a lintel dated 1647 from the earlier church.
