An object that had been used for years as a water-trough in the village was moved into the local church on the strength of terstimony from a former parish priest who told the villagers it was the old baptismal font from the church. The object is large and of oval shape, decorated on the outside with a faux ring on the front and back sides; the inner well has a centre drain hole and i not lined. It has all the appearences of having been originally a sarcophagus and, like some other such funeral objects elesewhere in France, it had been turned to other uses. As far as we know the object has no cover now. BSI has been informed that the object was brought inside the church and placed on a base of stones by Père Gelineau [e-mail of 28 September 2010 from Marie-France Desprez]
