There is an entry for Radford [Semele] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SP3464/radford-semele/] [accessed 6 February 2015], but it mentiojns neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Warwick, vol. 6, 1951) notes: "The church of Radford was given to his new foundation of Kenilworth Priory by Geoffrey de Clinton, the gift being confirmed by Henry I, [...] and by Bishop Roger de Clinton (1129–48) with the assent of Henry de Simely in whose fee it was. [...] The history of its development is obscure, as it has been practically entirely rebuilt within the last 70 years, with the exception of the tower and the south wall of the nave, but it was probably built early in the 12th century and enlarged in the 14th century, when the tower was built." There is no mention of a font in the VCH entry. There is a modern font in this church, 19th-century, probably from the late-1880s renovation. [NB: the church fabric goes back to the 12th century or earlier, but we have no information on the medieval font(s)] -- ***NB: the church was badly damaged in an arson fire on 16 March 2008, and the modern font badly damaged*** -- Aidan McRae Thomson made a photographic record of the salvaged remains of the Victorian font -after the 2008 fire- on 5 June 2010 and posted them on FLICKR: [www.flickr.com/photos/amthomson/4688720682/in/pool-fonts] [accessed 27 September 2010]
