Noted in Thyra's 'Church and manor in Denmark' [http://thyrashm.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html] [accessed 26 September 2010]: "A limestone font in Gotland-work with animal figures and masks upon an octagonal basin. A south German baptismal bowl from ab. 1575" [i.e., the baptismal dish insert used to hold the holy water inside the font]. The basin has a patterned decorative band below the rim, eroded and damaged; each side of the curved octagonal basin has an animal on it; some, like the passant lion, are caricature-like; others, like the two-headed griffing-like creature, rather grotesque; the masks or heads at the angles of the panels are laso grotesque; the top of the base has a thick roll moulding atop. No font cover present other than a flimsy modern one.
