The present font at Tilty St. Mary's is a fairly plain and small hemispherical basin raised of circular moulded pedestal base; it is probably modern. The building itself, once capella extra portas of the Cistercian monastery, became the parish church towards the end of the 16th century, after the Dissolution.of the Monasteries (1536-1541; the monastery itself was founded in the mid-12th century) [NB: we have no information on any earlier font of this church]
