The Victoria County History (Essex, vol. 1956) notes: "The chancel, which was probably built in the 13th century, has in its south wall a 13th century lancet window", but does not mention a font in this church. The present font, of tub-shape and raised on a pedestal base, is illustrated in the Parish web site [http://www.theydongarnonchurch.co.uk/node/13/29] [accessed 22 July 2010] is modern, probably 19th-century. [NB: the fabric of the church goes back to the 13th century, but we have no information on the medieval font]. The VCH entry for this parish further notes that the church of St. Alban, Coopersale, dates from the mid-19th century.
