Font Notes:
Listed by Enlart (1902) in a group of octagonal fonts in the Gothic style; ornamented with an arcade containing Christ and the Apostles. Baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin raised on an octagonal pedestal base; the sides of the basin are decorated with two arcades: a small one on the upper sides has blank trefoiled arches; the larger one below, has crocketed arches with pinnacles, with a Biblical scene in each; one of the scenes is the Baptism of Christ in the Jordan, with John the Baptism and an angel holding clothes [NB: the Palissy entry [cf. supra] identifies: "apôtre ; saint Christophe ; Enfant Jésus ; Baptême du Christ ; Couronnement de la Vierge"]. The base is moulded. The wooden cover is crown-shaped, with a ball finial.
