Noted in Mackeprang (1941, 2003) as one several Namur fonts imported from Belgium. Inventoried and illustrated in Danmarks kirker [http://danmarkskirker.natmus.dk/uploads/tx_tcchurchsearch/Sjyll_0937-1018.pdf] [accessed 21 November 2021] as the basin of an imported Namur marble font of between 1250 and 1350 ["et importstykke af sort marmor, vel fra Namur"; damaged at four spots on the basin and decorated with four protruding heads topped with Roman-like ['romerske'] helmets; base made of sandstone in 1619 busily decorated. Brass baptismal dish of 1942. Complex wooden cover of 1619. On-site notes: baptismal font, probably a composite of two unmatched parts: the rounded basin is octagonal, with protrusions and heads on four alternated sides; the heads appear to be three female and one male, the latter wearing a helmet; one female head has its hair in a braid across; another female head wears a wimple; the basin is made of a dark blue-black stone of the Tournai type. Raised on an octagonal-to-square pedestal base probably of later date; it is decorated with a human head or mask, a running garland, grapes and vines, etc.; beige; limestone or sandstone. The Baroque wooden cover is 17th-century and has a running inscription in German, with the original (?) dates given in Latin; two of the inscriptions are Biblical texts; carving is very elaborate; painted and gilded. A similar font cover can be found at Burkal.
