There is an entry for Oxtede [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TQ3852/oxted/] [accessed 28 March 2016]; it reports a church in it. Brayley (1850) describes the font: "The font is a small square stone basin, supported by a cylindrical pillar", but does not suggest a date for it, presumably because it is modern. The Victoria County History (Surrey, vol. 4, 1912) reports a modern font in this curch, though "The church appears to have been built about the middle of the 12th century". [NB: a church is reported here in the Domesday survey of 1086, but we have no information on the medieval font].
