The baptismal font now [2007] located in the interior of the church of Saint-Lubin, in Châteaudun, consists of a hexagonal basin raised on a short round base; the sides of the basin are decorated with a series of floral and foliage motifs, as well as angels holding up objects; on one of the sides, probably facing east originally, are two angels holding a shield with an emblem that may be that of the old Abbey [La Madeleine] here, as it includes both the staff and abbatial mitre; the details of the emble on the shield itself are almost totally erased now; this side has been drastically clean; another side of the basin is blank and rough; was it originally blank?. There is evidence of a metal staple in the upper rim, from the earlier font cover. [NB: the fabric of the original church goes back to earlier times, but we have no information on the medieval font(s) here]
