The SEAX Essex Arcives Online [http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/result_details.asp?DocID=276555] [accessed 14 July 2010] has a print by A.I. Suckling dated 14 March 1835 [I/Mb 51/1/7] showing the west end of the nave and the old font: monolithic and octagonal, with a flat moulding at the upper rim and plain vertical sides; on a round lower base or plinth; the inner well of the basin is round. The Friends of Essex Churches Trust [http://www.foect.org.uk] note that the baptismal font was introduced by Rev. Ernest Geldart, who was recor between 1881 and 1900, and responsible for much of the re-decoration of the original Norman church. The new font is described in the British Listed Buildings database [http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-118991-church-of-st-nicholas-little-braxted] [accessed 14 July 2010]: "Chamfered base and central columns support the C19 painted octagonal font, with 8 black marble columns." [NB: we have no information on the present whereabouts of the old font]
