There is an entry for this Langham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TM0333/langham/] [accessed 14 June 2018], but it mentions neither priest nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Essex, vol. 10, 2001) notes: "The 12th-century church, incorporated within the surviving building, had a shorter nave and chancel. [...] The church was restored c. 1863 and other repairs followed a fire in the tower in 1879. [...] The church was extensively renovated c. 1956-61 [...] An oak screen and a wooden font cover are later 20th-century, by H. & K. Mabbitt. (fn. 96)." The present font consists of an octagonal basin with chamfered upper rim, and sides decorated with large trefoils, raised on a pedestal base, and located in the south aisle, by the south doorway. It is a modern font, probably from the 19th-century restoration of the medieval church. [NB: we have no information on the medieval font]
