The Parish website [http://www.stmichaelskirbyessex.co.uk/history2.htm] [accessed 13 July 2010] notes: "Back through the tower doors will be found the Octagonal Font which together with the Pillars and Arches of the Nave were renewed or repaired in 1833, they faithfully retain the style and decoration of the fourteenth century, including the typical Ball Flower decoration." The illustration in this same source shows an octagonal basin with a pronounced upper moulding, and traceried side panels, raised on a slender octagonal pedestal base, also with traceried panels, a moulded lower base and a plinth, both octagonal as well. [NB: not clear whether the whole or part of the font was "renewed or repaired" in 1833]
