Bulmer's Directory of 1892 reports that the Church of St. Martin "was rebuilt in 1845-6, in place of an old one which dated from Norman times, but was in such a dilapidated condition that its restoration was impossible. The present edifice [...] is dedicated to St. Martin". The present font, consisting of an octagonal basin with trefoiled panels and a moulded pedestal base, also octagonal, is probably of the mid-19th century replacement church. The pyramidal wooden cover, decorated with crocketed arrises and floral finia, is probably of the same date [NB: we have no information on the medieval font, if there was one].
