There is an entry for this Elmdon [variant spelling ] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SP1783/elmdon/] [accessed 3 December 2014], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Warwick, vol. 4, 1947) entry for Elmdon, Warwickshire, notes: "The old church of St. Nicholas was pulled down [...] The parish registers begin in 1538"; the church was rebuilt in 1781; there is no mention of a font in either church; the earliest documented reference to a church here appears to be in 1370. The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868) states that the church here is dedicated to St. Peter; no font mentioned in it either.
