Noted in Bettley & Pevsner (2007): "Font. Late C14, octagonal, with quatrefoils round the bowl and traceried panels on the pedestal." Noted and illustrated in the Parish website [http://www.all-saints-doddinghurst.co.uk/pages/history.shtml] [accessed 21 June 2010]: "The Font is from the 14th Century, the decorated period in English Architectural history, though the wooden cover is more modern. The Font is made of upper greensand and carved in relief on one of its facets is a green man". The Green Man's head is one of several motifs inscribed in the quatrefoiled panels of the basin sides. The basin is lead-lined; the round wooden cover is flat, with metal decoration and ring handle; modern, as indicated above, probably 19th-century [NB: the fabric of the church goes back to the 13th century, but we have no information on the earlier font]
