'The Suffolk Chronicle & Mercury' (issue of 4 June 1937) [reprinted in http://www.foxearth.org.uk/PocketHistoryofBorley.htm] [accessed 15 June 2010] reports a new font in this old church. The modern font is illustrated in the Essex Churches website [www.essexchurches.info] [accessed 15 June 2010]. The present font, consisting of an octagonal basin decorated with enamel (?) inserts on alternate sides, raised on an octagonal stem with traceried sides and a moulded lower base, is modern. [NB: the nave may date to the late Anglo-Saxon or early Norman period, but we have no information on the earlier font(s)]
