There is an entry for this Aldham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TL9125/aldham/] [accessed 12 June 2018], but it mentions neither priest not vhutvh in it. The Victoria County History (Essex. vol. 10, 2001) notes: "The church, which until 1854 stood near the western parish boundary, was first recorded c. 1145 [...] medieval church demolished in 1854 [...] The new church of St. Margaret and St. Catherine [...] possibly formerly St. Anne [...] was built on a new site in 1854-5 [...] The south tower door of c. 1300, the 14th- century piscinae in the chancel and south aisle, the 14th-century vestry door, the 15th-century door of the south porch, [...] the early 18th-century altar rails, and the lower part of the font are all from the old church." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TL9176325844] notes that the new 1854 church was built in a new site but does not mention the font in it. The present baptismal font at Aldham parish church has a plain octagonal basin and is located in the westernmost bay of the arcade that separates the nave from the north aisle.
