Noted in García Gómez (2007) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period decorated with piping or moulding [cf. infra]. The entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/soria_VILLAR_DEL_CAMPO.pdf] [accessed 5 September 2025] lists and illustrates bucket-shaped font identified as being originally from the abandoned church of nearby Castellanos: "En la capilla del lado del evangelio se conserva la pila bautismal del despoblado de Castellanos. Es un ejemplar tardorrománico, de talla muy popular y decoración esquemática. Consta de una sencilla copa troncocónica (115 cm de diámetro × 77 cm de altura) decorada con grandes arcos de medio punto entrecruzados que se combinan con semiesferas y cabezas antropomorfas de rasgos muy sumarios. Es obra muy tosca y de cronología tardía, seguramente del siglo XIII."
*****ABOVE DESCRIPTION IN CONFLICT WITH REFERENCE/SOURCE BELOW****
A baptismal font in Villar del Campo is illustrated in the village website [https://www.villardelcampo.es/arte] [accessed 5 September 2025]; it is a plain almost cylindrical tub font, quite likely of the 12th or 13th century; the font appears to be a crude work, and shows considerable damage around the upper rim. Located next to it, in the interior of the church, lies an object that appears to be a holy-water stoup: square, with chamfered corners, and of a shape that suggests a Roman altar [there was a Roman villa in the vecinity of this village]; the upper end has been hollowed out and the outer perimeter is polygonal, with small three sides at the front, two larger ones at the sides, and the longest one at the back [NB: no separate entry for this object in the Index, since we have no confirmation of its use/function].
