No entry found for Pinvin in the Domesday survey. Miller (1890) writes: "The church is a chapelry of St. Andrew's, Pershore, and is an old and interesting building, with Norman work, and possibly some pre-Norman fragments", but does not mention a font in it. The Victoria County History (Worcester, vol. 4, 1924) notes: "chapel of ST. NICHOLAS, Pinvin [...] Both the chancel and nave are probably of the 12th century, but there is no detail remaining in the former of that date. [...] The 12th-century font is octagonal with shallow round-headed panels in each face, a circular stem and a modern base." Brooks & Pevsner (2007) note: "Late Norman bowl, octagonal, each face with two elongated round-arched panels; C19 stem." Described and illustrated in the CRSBI (2014): "Sandstone, octagonal, on circular stem and modern base. Carved with a tall blind arcade of one plain continuous order, two arches on each face. The bowl has broken into three horizontal sections, and has been mended with cement. There is also a repair at the rim, and marks where three metal braces once held the bowl together."
