There are two entries for [North] Piddle [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SO9654/north-piddle/] [accessed 16 October 2014], neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. Miller (1890) gives no specific date for the church "rebuilt 1876", but reports the first recorded rector in it as "Walterus de Merton ... 1290". The Victoria County History (Worcester, vol. 4, 1924) notes: "The old church was a small rectangular structure with a wooden bellcote and a north porch", but does not mention a font. Brooks & Pevsner (2007) note: "Plain octagonal font, perhaps C14."
