The Victoria County History (Worcester) notes: "The chapel dedicated to St. Godwald at Finstall in this parish is mentioned in 1390 [...] The disused church of St. Godwald, which stands a short distance to the eastward, close to the railway, is a small rectangular building of red brick with stone dressings, lighted by plain pointed windows, and having a gallery at the west end. The roof is slated, and over the west door is a stone tablet recording the rebuilding of the church in 1773. [...] The new church of St. Godwald at Finstall, [was] built in 1883". Brooks & Pevsner (2007) note that Finstall was a "medieval chapelry of Stoke Prior", but the "chunky Gothic font" is from 1900. [NB: we have no information on the medieval font]
