Meyrick (1808) mentions the church here but gives no details of it. The 'Building news and architectural review' (vol. 9, 1862: 90) reports a 15th-century font from the old dilapidated church, moved into the renovated building. The entry for this church in Evans (1914) mentions no font in it. The font, before its later alterations, is described and illustrated in Tyrrell-Green (1920): "This font and the one at Cardigan are the only extant specimens of fifteenth century fonts in the county, that can be deifinitely assigned to that date. Both are fine examples of their type and are richly ornamented. The adornement of the large and beautifully proportioned font at Llandygwydd takes the forms of quatrefoils so characteristic of Perpendicular work [...] it is well set off, altered font too, by the (modern) base on which it now stands." The entry for this church in COFLEIN [www.coflein.gov.uk/en/site/105194/details/st-tygwydds-church-llandygwydd] [accessed 11 January 2020] updates information obsolete in other sources: "The church was actually demolished in 2000 and only the outline remains." However, a photograph of a polygonal baptismal font by Boffin PC in Flickr [http://www.flickr.com/photos/7663959@N02/2824708879/] [accessed 18 May 2010] is labeled: "Font and footprint are all that remain of St Tygwydd's Church across the road. The stone of this 15th century font is sadly crumbling away fast now that it's exposed to the elements." [NB: only the foundations and the baptismal font, exposed to the elements, now [September 2007] remain]. The checkered life of this font is described and illustrated in Palmer (2021).
