Eyton (1856- ) suggests that the church here is probably pre-Domesday [i.e., pre-1086] but could find no documentation to corroborate its existence prior to 1218. Newman & Pevsner (2006) state that "nothing of the medieval church survives". [NB: we have no information on the medieval font]
