There is an entry for Stanton [Long] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SO5790/stanton-long/] [accessed 30 June 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Shropshire, vol. 10, 1998) notes: "by c. 1200 there was a church at Stanton Long, [...] where none had been recorded in 1086 [...] The church was restored in 1842. There was a further restoration 1869-70 by S. Pountney Smith [...] the plain font's octagonal stem [...] may date from the 1842 restoration". [NB: not clear whether the rest of the font is medieval or not]. Not mentioned in Newman & Pevsner (2010).
