Anderson (1864) reports a chapel here "founded before 1159". Newman & Pevsner (12006) describe the present church as built in 1727; the font itself: "Probably converted from the stem of an C18 sundial. The cover is a cut-down C17 Dutch panel carved with the Baptism of Christ."
