Anderson (1864) quotes Eyton (1959- ) suggesting Herbert Fitz Helgot as the founder of Norton-in-Hales church [NB: this Fitz Helgot was assessor to Henry I between 1108 and 1113, and later his viceror, according to Eyton (ibid.)]. Newman & Pevsner (2006) note there may be Norman traces in the otherwise Victorian doorway of the tower. [NB: we have no information on the medieval font of this church].
