Anderson (1864) notes: "Originally styled a chapel, this, in 1148 was subject to Shawbury church". Newman & Pevsner (2006) note: "Font, sotne, idiosynchratic Gothic piece, probably late C18. Cusped chevron on the small bowl, steeply pointed arcading on the thick stem." [NB: we have no information on the earlier font of the medieval church]
