There is an entry for Hordley [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SJ3830/hordley/] [accessed 13 February 2020] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Anderson (1864) notes the church of St. Mary as "a dependency of Baschurch" being valued in 1291. Newman & Pevsner (2006) note a Norman nave in this church but no font. The church here is said to go back to ca. 1160. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SJ3812330825] notes: "Parish church. Mid-to late C12 with later alterations, restored in 1880. [...] Late C19 painted octagonal font with painted symbols to each side; moulded circular plinth." [NB: we have no information on the medieval font]
