Anderson (1864) notes the church of "St. Mary of Oppetune, was originally an affiliation of the church of Clun", and names an incumbent in it by 1290. Newman & Pevsner (2006) note the new church: "Built in 1869-70 by Thomas Nicholason in place of a medieval church", with a "heavily, Neo-Norman" font in it. [NB: we have no information on the font from the medieval church]
