Octagonal baptismal font, plain and badly damaged, housed now [May 2009] in the chapter house of the Abbey. It may have originated in the abbey church. It is now raised on three stone blocks, not its original base. [NB: there may have been an earlier font, as Newman & Pevsner (2006) note there may have been a Late Saxon church here before the foundation of the Abbey ca. 1135 -- the plain font now in the chapter house may date from one of the medieval or late-medieval renovations of the Abbey, or from a nearby church].
