Bronze baptismal font made in 1481 by Peter Hansen [aka Hanssen], a bell-maker from Flensburg (Flensborg), a donation from bishop Jens Iversen Lange to the cathedral ; it consists of a bucket-shaped basin raised on four supporting figures; the basin has running inscriptions below the upper rim and around the lower basin side, between which is a Christ in Majesty in a mandorla and an arcade of foliated arches populated with the Coronation of the Virgin, the Crucifixion and a number of Apostles; the four standing figures that support the basin have human bodies each dressed as a cleric holding a book, but the heads are those of the symbols of the four Evangelists. There is no cover present; the baptismal dish is probably 17th-18th century. The font was donated to the cathedral by Bishop Jens Ivarsen Lange, donor also of the main altar retable.
